Pop superstar Beyoncé has received a hysterical welcome from fans in Japan.

Beyoncé flew into Tokyo for the start of the first leg of her world tour.

Around 200 screaming and crying fans, mostly young women, had waited for hours for the US star's arrival.

And to their delight, the singer defied security guards trying to prevent her from approaching the fans, by walking up to them, shaking their hands and thanking them.

Beyoncé's world tour runs from now until September. She will be in the Europe by the end of April and in the US by July.
