Mims: Still hot enough for radio
As predicted (as if it took more psychic power than that possessed by the average salamander to guess this one), Mims' This Is Why I'm Hot holds on to No. 1 on the national radio airplay audience chart for a second week. It's up 5.5% in total audience, but that might not be enough to hold off Akon's red-hot Don't Matter next week -- it climbs to No. 2 with a massive 16.1% audience increase.
The rest of the top 10, according to figures generated by Nielsen BDS, Arbitron and Radio & Records, features hits by Robin Thicke, Nelly Furtado, Lloyd, Justin Timberlake, O
marion, Daughtry, Beyonce and the top 10 debut of Gwen Stefani's The Sweet Escape.

1-1 last week Mims/This Is Why I'm Hot (+5.5% in total audience): He took only nine weeks to hit No. 1, but he's in imminent danger of being overtaken next week by the onrushing, irresistible force that is Akon.
2-5 Akon/Don't Matter (+16.1%): Just flat-
out smokin' now. Jumping 16% in audience when you've already got a huge audience is mathematically impressive, and the record actually seems hotter this week than it was the previous week. Should be No. 1 either next week or the week after.
3-4 Robin Thicke/Lost Without U (+2.3%): A bit lost in the Mims/Akon battle, this has
been quite a success story, one that has most likely reached its peak point.
4-3 Nelly Furtado/Say It Right (-3.8%): Hanging in there at the start of what looks to be a long, gradual decline.
5-2 Lloyd/You (-12.7%): At the start of what looks to be a short, rapid decline.
6-9 Justin Timberlake/What Goes Around ... (+0.8%): Got that lucky bounce I broached as a possibility last week, and if it can hang on while Lloyd and Nelly slide, it may get a couple more chart points before it's done.
7-8 Omarion/Ice Box (-3.3%): Pure lucky bounce on the chart -- there may be a lot of that going around (and coming around) until the new crop of top 10 hits reaches higher audience thresholds.
8-10 Daughtry/It's Not Over (+0.6%): Another recipient of a lucky bounce, and definitely in line for more of those, but, title to the contrary, it's just about over as far as growth is concerned.
9-7 Beyonce/Irreplaceable (-14.9%): Nobody's irreplaceable. Last week in the top 10. Great run, to be sure.
10-11 Gwen Stefani/The Sweet Escape (+1.8%): Gwen finally gets a top 10 hit from the second solo album, but it doesn't have a lot of oomph left in it.

With Beyonce departing and Lloyd, Nelly, and Omarion all soon to follow, a substantial top 10 shakeup is due in the next few weeks. The top candidate to join the top 10 ranks next week is Diddy's Last Night, which nearly tripled its percentage of audience gain (to 15.7%) and moved from No. 13 to No. 11.
Fergie's
Glamorous (up 12.8% in audience and 16-13 on the chart) is also accelerating rapidly. And right behind it is Timbaland's Give It to Me (up 10.6%, 17-14 on the chart).
Then there are three even faster movers below: Musiq Soulchild's biggest hit yet, Buddy, leaping 25-17 on the chart with a 28.7% audience increase (second best of the week); Gym Class Heroes' Cupid's Chokehold (29-19, +22.5%); and the R. Kelly/Bow Wow dual release, I'm a Flirt (R. Kelly has his own version and guests on Bow Wow's; their airplay totals are combined), which is up 31-21 with a 21.1% increase.

Along with the last three songs mentioned above, four other tracks gained more than 20% in total audience. T-Pain's Buy U a Drank tops the list with a 35.6% boost, good for a 72-48 chart leap.
Beyonce and Shakira's Beautiful Liar (or, in Spanish, Bello Embustero) is up 28.4%, moving 71-53 on the chart. Ciara's
Like a Boy gains 25.1% and moves 65-50. And
Pink's U + Ur Hand seems to be achieving a belated liftoff (and may become the first substantial hit off her last album, out for nearly a year now); it's up 25.0% and moves 87-64 on the chart.

With all that movement, there's a definite scarcity of debuts -- just two, in fact: Juan Luis Guerra y 440's La Llave de Mi Corazon (The Key to My Heart, if my rusty Southern California Spanish is vaguely accurate) at No. 85 and Huey's Pop Lock and Drop at No. 88.
